About Me

I grew up in Montpelier, Vermont, and have always been active in pursuing numerous interests. Forefront among these have been the performing arts, and I sang in numerous choirs, played piano, and performed and did backstage work for school and community musicals. I have tried my hand at working with sets, props, costumes, lighting and sound, giving me a strong understanding of the things that go into putting a show on stage.

I attended Middlebury College for three semesters, studying music and theater. During that time I co-founded a student organization to stage musicals, and I co-produced their first show, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. The production was a success, and the group remains active to this day.

Working with computers has always been another of my interests, and when I was young I explored both programming and designing web pages as self-taught hobbies.

In 1997, I joined the engineering team at Level 9 (also known as CK Interactive). There I learned the Perl programming language and began designing large scale web-based systems. These included message boards, intranets, extranets, a Virtual University (at a time when online learning was still an emerging concept), and other custom utilities such as an airline flight finder. One of my primary focuses was developing cutting edge e-commerce solutions. I continue to use the programming skills and principles that I learned at Level 9 to enhance the work that I do on websites today.

I began working on performing arts websites almost at the same time I started at Level 9. After four years with them, I set out to work as a freelance web contractor full time. I now focus on websites related to the performing arts since it is an area of interest to me, and I am able to use my knowledge of the field to enhance the work that I do for my clients.

I am currently based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
